Capturing the graduation of St. John the Evangelist’s 8th-grade class at Chartwell Country Club was a memorable event. As the sole photographer, I had the opportunity to create a mix of candid, action, group, and individual shots that reflected the energy and excitement of the students. The kids were open to trying fun and creative poses, making this graduation session feel truly unique. My goal was to ensure every moment—from the daytime celebrations to the evening festivities—was captured with authenticity and care.

As a photographer, I love to make every event special. Having just one photographer on-site lets me talk to both the students and their parents. This helps make pictures that feel more personal and real. This graduation was a perfect example of that. The parents were as happy and relaxed as their kids, and their trust in me made the whole experience easy and fun. Together, we celebrated this important event in their children’s lives. For this event, I relied on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III paired with the EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This powerful combination allowed me to capture both wide group shots and close-up details with stunning clarity. The lens’ wide opening made it work well in low light, especially as the party went on into the night. This gear let me take pictures of everything from happy moments to fast-paced action shots. I made sure to preserve every memory from this special graduation day.
