This past February, some friends and I spent a day exploring the world through the lens of my infrared (IR) camera, the Fuji FinePix IS-1. With the sun finally shining, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to play with IR photography. We found ourselves laughing at how vampire-like we all appeared in the images, with pale skin and eerie glows. It made me curious—how would real vampires look if captured with an IR camera? Perhaps they’d appear more human than we imagine.
One thing that stood out to me was how captivating the eyes looked in the IR images. There’s something mesmerizing about the way they are rendered, adding an almost mystical quality to the photos. It was a fun and enlightening day, reminding me of the creative possibilities that different types of photography can offer. If you’re intrigued by the idea of seeing the world in a new light—quite literally—IR photography is definitely worth exploring.
