Kayaking at Lone Rock was an unforgettable experience. Last week, I joined a half-day tour with Hidden Canyon Kayak, launching from Lone Rock Beach. As we paddled through the narrow canyons of Lake Powell, the views were breathtaking. Towering red cliffs, peaceful waters, and hidden coves made it feel like an entirely different world.
We stopped at secluded beaches for short hikes and swims, enjoying the serenity of nature. Every turn offered a new perspective of the lake’s stunning landscape, with cliffs towering over us and reflections dancing on the water.
About Lone Rock
Lone Rock is a massive sandstone formation rising from Lake Powell, located near the Utah-Arizona border. It’s one of the few places where you can drive right to the water’s edge, making it ideal for launching a kayak. The area is peaceful, less crowded, and perfect for exploring.
Discover Lake Powell
Lake Powell is one of the largest man-made lakes in the U.S., offering over 2,000 miles of shoreline. Its clear waters, narrow canyons, and dramatic cliffs make it a top destination for outdoor lovers. Kayaking is the best way to discover the hidden gems—small coves, arches, and untouched beaches.
Capturing the Perfect Moment
To capture the beauty of Lone Rock and Lake Powell, I brought along my Canon EOS 5D Mark III with an EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens. This gear was perfect for capturing both wide landscapes and detailed close-ups. The lake’s natural beauty deserves to be preserved in photos, and this setup allowed me to do just that.
