Workplace photography is a powerful tool to reflect a business’s culture and community. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph CityFit, a local gym in Mount Vernon, Baltimore. The shoot wasn’t just a job; it was an experience. The CityFit team, full of energy and passion, made the day exciting as we moved our session to Gratti Alley in Station North, capturing colorful and dynamic workout poses. The energy and vibrancy of Baltimore’s city life were evident in every shot.
The Value of Workplace Photography for Local Gyms
Photographing the CityFit workplace wasn’t just about taking photos; it was about capturing the essence of a community-focused gym. These images will be used across various marketing channels—including their website and social media—to visually communicate the welcoming and energetic vibe that defines CityFit. This kind of workplace photography helps potential members connect emotionally with the gym, boosting both brand loyalty and trust.
Gear Used for This Photography Project
For this shoot, I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, a reliable choice for capturing detailed, high-quality images. To bring out the best of each setting, I utilized different lenses: the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM for wide, vibrant shots, the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM for more intimate, close-up details, and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM to capture action from a distance, highlighting dynamic workout movements.
CityFit isn’t just any gym—it truly embodies the spirit of Baltimore.
As someone who loves working out there, I can vouch for its genuine community vibe. Living, working, and working out in the city you love makes it all the more rewarding, and capturing that energy in my photos was an incredible experience.
