I had the chance to follow a friend who works as a book conservator at the Library of Congress. Walking through the archives, I was amazed by the feeling of preservation and care. For this shoot, I used my trusty Canon EOS 5D Mark III, paired with the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM lens. This combination allowed me to capture sharp, detailed images with a shallow depth of field, which highlighted the intricate tools and materials used in book conservation. The 35mm focal length was perfect for capturing both close-up details and the wider workspace, offering versatility and precision. The f/1.4 aperture also ensured excellent performance in the low-light conditions of the library’s conservation room, making it easier to capture the atmosphere without compromising on quality.
